Gold Swim Team and Pre-competitive TrackChattahoochee Gold offers both a pre-competitive track and USA competition training. The two pre-competitive groups are called Intro, and Technique/Fitness. Intro classes swim either once or twice a week for 45 minutes are cover the fundamentals of the four strokes, starts, and turns. Technique/Fitness classes cover the fundamentals as well, and gradually increase the amount of yardage to develop the swimmer's strength and endurance. Technique/Fitness classes that swim twice a week are called Tech/Fitness League.
Both of these pre-competitive groups will be offered a couple of developmental meets in the course of the year, usually one early in the fall, and another one in later in the winter. Some T/F League swimmers may be asked to swim in the standard Gold meets if the coach thinks they're ready.
Pre-competitive groups pay a lower registration fee that cover August to July. Unlike the competitive groups, Intro and Tech/Fitness swimmers pay month to month, with no contractual obligations or penalty if a swimmer decides to drop. The pre-competitive groups are an excellent value and a good way to check out if year round swimming is for your swimmer.
The competitive groups start with the Silver team, primarily for 8-10 year olds , which swims three times a week and is focused on refining the strokes and learning to race.
The Gold group is primarily for ages 9- 11. This group begins the aerobic base development so important to the long success of swimmer. They swim four to five practices a week with one off-site dry land workout.
Sectional: 11-13 olds who have decided that swimming is the sport for them, and that they wish to excel at the State Championship level. Six practices a week are offered plus dry land.
Sectional Advanced: 12-14 yr olds aiming to succeed at the Southeastern sectional level. Practices are offered seven times a week, plus dry land.
High School: 13 and older swimmers wishing to swim at the high school level but who can't commit to the requirements of the Senior group due to other activities. These swimmers are also able to supplement these practices with their high school practices.
Senior: high school age swimmers with State qualifying times aiming to succeed at the Sectional level.
National: high school age athletes with Sr Sectional qualifying times that intend to compete on the national level.
Chattahoochee Gold employs only certified professional USA Swimming coaches. Our coaches have completed classes preparing them for their roles on deck, and cleared the national background check system.
